WRW SJHL Draft Recap

The Weyburn Red Wings proudly selected 6 players in the 2018 SJHL Draft.The Wing’s made 6 selections in the top 42 picks overall.

In the 1st Rd, 6th overall, the Red Wings selected forward Connor McGrath from Leroy, SK. McGrath played with the Humboldt Bantam AA Broncos this season.Connor posted 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points in 31 regular season games.

In the 2nd Rd, 18th overall, the Wings selected Forward Austin Mclean from Regina, SK. Austin played last season for the Regina Aces, where he posted 13 goals and 24 assists in 31 regular season games.

The Wings’ second 2nd round pick, 19th overall, is Defenseman Liam McInnis from Regina, who played last season with the Regina Pat Blues. As team captain, Liam posted 3 goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 28 regular season games.

The Wings’ third 2nd round pick, 21st overall, is Forward Logan Cox of Prince Albert. Cox posted 57 points, with 19 goals and 38 assists along with 34 pims for the Prince Albert Venice House Pirates.Cox also posted 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points in 6 playoff games.

In the 3rd round, pick 26th overall, the Wings’ selected Goaltender Zane Winter from Caryle. Winter spent the 17/18 season with the Estevan TS&M Bantam Bruins. Zane was 2nd in the SBAAHL for Games Played with 23, posting a 6-12-3 record and a 3.44 GAA.

With our 4th round pick, 42nd overall, the Red Wings’ selected Noah Wills from Swift Current. Wills posted 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 31 regular season games with the Swift Current Bantam AA Kabos Broncos.
