Red Wings Announce Staff Change

The Weyburn Red Wings are proud to announce the addition of Jeff Schaeffer to our team staff in the role of Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager.
The Weyburn resident has has been involved in scouting with the Wing’s for the past four seasons, and has served as our Southern Scouting Coordinator. Jeff has coached minor hockey in Weyburn, including time with both our Bantam and Midget teams.

Schaeffer played three seasons in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos, where he played under current Edmonton Oilers’ Head Coach Todd McLellan. Jeff played one season with the Weyburn Red Wings before he moved on to play for the University of Regina Cougars for Bruce Thompson and Bill Liskowich. The team would like to welcome Jeff,  Jill and children Alexis and Bailey, to our Red Wing Family!

The Red Wing’s would also like to announce that Assistant Coach Brock Appleyard has resigned from his position with the team to pursue other opportunities. The team would like to thank Brock for his time with the club, and for all of his hard work and dedication to our program. Brock served two seasons on the bench alongside Wes Rudy and Tucker Neuberger. Appleyarddid an excellent job as Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Thank you Brock! Once a Wing, Always a Wing!
