The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings announced last week they had signed three more players for the upcoming 2020/21 season.
The organization announced on March 18 they had signed ’02 born forward Elvis Gorontzy-Slack from Jasper, AB. He spent this past season playing for the Grand Forks Border Bruins of the KIJHL. In 42 games played, he put up 28 goals and 22 assists.
Gorontzy-Slack and McGrath join ’02 defencemen Ian Maier, ’02 forward J.D. Hall, ’02 forward Jackson Hassman and ’02 forward/defencemen Austyn Hansen as players who have signed with the Red Wings for next year.
Lastly on Monday this week, the Red Wings announced they had signed ’02 born forward Ethan Whillans. Whillans is from Manning AB, and spent this past season playing for the Midget AAA Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.
He was also called up twice by the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL this past season. In 32 games played with the Rangers, Whillans put up seven goals and four assists. The Rangers were also part of the Macs Tournament and Whillans played in all four of the Rangers games and earned two assists.
The Red Wings were scheduled to have their Spring Camp from April 3-5, but it has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic with no rescheduled date announced.
