SJHL Players of the Week Announced

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Carson Rose, Weyburn Red Wings
1996 F Carson Rose (Surrey BC) was a driving force on offense all season long for the Red Wings and he continued that role in the Wildcard round of the playoffs as he posted three goals and two assists in the final two games of the series, leading Weyburn to a three game series sweep over the Kindersley Klippers.  Weyburn will meet with Flin Flon or Battlefords in the next round.  Rose had 24-goals and 22-assists in 50-games during the regular season.  Runner up:  Jacob Wozney, Weyburn.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Carter Phair, Weyburn Red Wings
1998 G Carter Phair (Carnduff SK) was a big reason why the Red Wings were able to win three straight games and move into the quarter-finals as he blocked 99-of-102 shots in the three games, including 82-of-83 in the first two games on home ice.  Phair was 7-9-and-1 with a 2.41-GAA and .922-SPCT during the regular season after returning from Kamloops (WHL).

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Mike Eskra, Weyburn Red Wings
1997 D Mike Eskra (Regina SK) stepped up and produced three assists in their three game Wildcard round best of five sweep over the Kindersley Klippers.  Eskra had two assists in a game two win on home ice and then setup another in game three, helping the Wings secure a five day break heading into the quarter-finals.  Eskra had 8-goals and 22-assists in 54-games during the regular season.
