This year the Weyburn Red Wings had a jersey auction on Remembrance Day, with all proceeds going to the Weyburn Legion. The team had their special edition jerseys for the game, which resembled the Legion colours. The game started with a ceremonial puck drop, and ended as a huge success. Maharaj, Lacoste, Mitchell, and Oxelgren had their jerseys auctioned off live during intermission. All other jerseys were in the lobby for a silent auction, and the fans did not disappoint with their bids.
The Red Wings invited the Legion members back to their Friday game on November 15 for a cheque presentation. It was revealed that the jersey auction raised $18,000! We would like to thank all those who bid on the jerseys, as this money couldn’t be raised without you.
