Game Day Preview – Wings vs Millionaires

The Weyburn Red Wings will be looking to complete the sweep of the home and home series with the Melville Millionaires tonight, when the two team take the ice at Crescent Point Place. With the Wings picking up points in their past four games, and riding the momentum of a 3-2 overtime win last night over the Mills, they are the favourites to get the two points tonight.

Weyburn clinched a playoff spot last night with the victory, and are now jockeying for position with the Notre Dame Hounds, Yorkton Terriers and Humboldt Broncos to see who will end up in the 5th and 6th spots, while avoiding the 7th and 8th positions. The Wings hold 6th place at the moment, but are tied in points with the Hounds. Weyburn get the nod by virtue of having more wins on the season.

Weyburn will be looking to Jake MacLennan to backstop them to the win tonight. MacLennan came on in relief of Shaun Fleming, and played nearly flawlessly as the Wings picked up the win. Tonight, Weyburn will have a strong chance at picking up the two points.

Carson Rose and Jake Wozney, who factored into the win last night (Rose scored the OT winner) will once again be looked at by fans to help guide the team offensively. Connor Burk, who scored his 5th of the season on the powerplay last night, has come into his own as of late, and will more than likely be a key factor as well.
