The Weyburn Red Wings will look to make it three in a row as they host the Yorkton Terriers this afternoon at Crescent Point Place. The Wings are coming off a big win Saturday night over La Ronge.

The game will be a key match-up, as the Wings and Terriers are jockeying for second place in the Viterra Division, and sixth overall in the SJHL. The two teams are tied coming into this afternoon’s game with 53 points apiece.

The Wing will be looking to some of the veterans who have stepped up in an huge way in recent weeks. One of those players is Carson Rose. The 20-year-old has picked up 15 points in the past seven games. He has the longest current point streak on the season, and will be looking to continue to contribute offensively. Jake Wozney has also been playing strong, with a hat trick Saturday against La Ronge, and has 14 points in the past seven games.

There are two others on the Wings who been playing their best hockey of the season. Cole Woodliffe has picked up seven points in the past seven games, and forward Connor Burk has also picked up his game, with four points in the past two matches.

Rookie defenseman Dylan McCabe has also been strong for the Wings. Each night, the 17-year-old is one of the best players on the ice for the Red Wings, and finds himself getting a lot of minutes, paired up with captain Mike Eskra.

The Wings will be looking to faces throughout the roster to chip in against the Terriers, who have struggled against Weyburn this season. The Wings have a 5-1-0-1 edge in the season series so far, heading into the final match-up of the year. Weyburn has averaged just shy of four goals a game against the Terriers, and put up 11 over two games a few weeks ago. A similar performance will be anticipated by the fans who will be out for the holiday Monday matinee.

It all begins with the puck drop at 3:00 p.m. You can catch all the action with Steven Wilson and Zac Chartrand, beginning with the pregame show at 2:50 p.m, on Red Wing Radio K106.
