Weyburn Legion 47 Playoff MVP: Nick Kovacs

After 163 games as a Red Wing between playoffs and regular season, Red Wings assistant captain Nick Kovacs will end his junior career with the playoff MVP honours to his name.

During exit meetings with the team this year, Kovacs was presented the Weyburn Legion 47 Playoff MVP award by the coaching staff.

During the playoffs, Kovacs lead his team in ice time with over 195.5 minutes played in 7 games, averaging just under 28 minutes per game. In game 4, Kovacs played just short of 38 minutes before scoring the game winning goal in overtime with only 36 seconds left on the clock in the first overtime.

Kovacs also made a pivotal play on the game winner during game 6. On the powerplay he knocked down a clearing attempt from the Broncos out of the air with his stick before hugging the wall to protect the puck and find the open man along the wall to set up the game winning goal.

With his 163 games played as a Red Wing, Kovacs finishes his time with the Red Wings with the most games played as a Wing on the current roster.
